Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If the submission is sent to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions must be followed to ensure an anonymous review: To ensure the integrity of the blind review process carried out by experts for this journal, every effort must be made to prevent the identities of both authors and reviewers from being known to each other. This involves authors, editors, and reviewers (who upload documents as part of their review) verifying that the following steps have been taken for the text and file properties: The authors of the document have removed their names from the text, using “Author” and the year in references and footnotes instead of the author’s name, article title, etc. For Microsoft Office documents, the author’s identity must also be removed from the file properties (see “File” in Word) by clicking the following options, starting from the main menu in Microsoft: File > Save As > Tools (or Options on a Mac) > Security > Remove personal information from file properties on save > Save.
  • If you have already published a manuscript, you may only submit a new text after two consecutive issues of the journal have been published. If this is the case for the current submission, you are advised to consider whether the waiting period is applicable.
