From the society of knowledge to the society of risk

Abstract

The times we´re living: the XXI century, forward to the world inhabitants within the global context challenges as well as demands, given that not only it´s the present shown to us like a historical juncture, where change of events evolve around the main role of knowledge, but also around the potential that this knowledge brings itself; is that so, that the current century impose over the conglomerate of people the sign of “Society of knowledge†where the nodal point of human actions can be found pivoting around the reflexion and transformation that can be built departing from any place in the globe and that in turn can have repercussions earth wide. It then allows us to see that knowledge has always been a fundamental element in human actions and at the same time that, a change in the conception of knowledge itself has existed. As a summary, it´s then important to point out here what sore of transformation of the concept of knowledge itself has been, or what has been the new way of applying it within the general frame of human society and how this can impose challenges and demands to the academics thinking about present times and times to come where actuality presents multiple alternatives for action and the future certain doubts in its application. All summarized in one slogan “society of knowledge†as it has been said by Ulrich Beck, it converges in a “society of riskâ€.
