Health care reform in the United States and its approach to medical global tourism

Abstract

The purpose of health care reform in the United States is to increase coverage to insured individuals parting from an equitable approach on expenses distribution between employees and employers, and elimination of restrictions of time and previous medical condition to the new users of the system. This article analyzes the US health care system, the implemented reform, and impact on medical tourism as a low cost ensuring alternative, with risk of quality of the provided service. It is found that such reform not necessarily incentives market agents to contract new insurance policies, due to the many variables, while facilitating agents of medical tourism face several challenges to be considered for the potential exploitation of migrating trend for health care purposes in curing and preventive field.
